Pulmonology

Pulmonology is a major branch of medicine that deals with the respiratory system.The pulmonary system, also called the respiratory system, consists of the lungs, trachea, bronchi, bronchioles, associated blood vessels, and all other components related to breathing and the process of respiration. A pulmonologist focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases related to the respiratory system. Pulmonologists treat patients admitted to the ICU who require mechanical ventilation in order to breathe.
